Robert E. McKinley, age 71, passed away August 19th at his home in Andover. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his son, Robert, Jr. of Virginia Beach,VA.; his daughter Monica Nutter of Haverhill, MA; his grandchildren Ciara and Moriah Nutter, Steven McKinley, and Erick Klopp and a host of other family and friends.

Bob’s career was in senior management positions with several Fortune 500 companies: Drackett, a Division of Bristol Myers; Polaroid, BASF, Josten’s, and Whistler Corporations; later he joined Sears. He enjoyed working with community organizations including the Andover High School Band, A Better Chance Program, the Merrimack Valley Branch NAACP, and the African American Genealogical and Historical Society-New England Chapter (AAGHS-NE).

Bob also served on the World Mission Planning Committee of The American Baptist Churches of MA(TABCOM) and in various offices as a member of Third Baptist Church of Lawrence.

Arrangements: Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, MA 01844. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 26 at 9:00 a.m. in the Third Baptist Church, 22 Warren St., Lawrence, MA. Entombment will be held in Oak Woods Mausoleum in Chicago, IL.

At the request of the family, please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the project Bob and Brenda were working on which was the building of two dormitories for ex-Trokosi slaves attending the Frankadua Vocational School in Ghana, West Africa: Ghana Mission Explosion Project, c/o TABCOM, 20 Milton St., Dedham, MA 02026 or to the Third Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, C/O Scholarship Committee, 22 Warren St., Lawrence, MA 01841.
